The Best of Guernsey Private Driving Tours

Did you know that Victor Hugo lived in Guernsey during his exile from France?

This is a gentle way to see most of our beautiful island. The tour takes a maximum of 4 passengers giving you plenty of opportunities to ask questions and hear the amazing stories that we have about our island’s historic landmarks.  We drive to and past the very best views and places our island has hidden away, which also includes driving along our stunning coasts, learning the history of the visits of Victor Hugo, Auguste Renoir and the many fortifications along the way. We go to the Little Chapel and visit the jewellers shop on site, we ramble to easy to reach, Neolithic Passage graves that dot the coast and the north of the island, and finish at your hotel or location of your choice.

Walking tours with an Accredited Tour Guide

Choose from the many interesting, informative walks that help you to explore and learn about our wonderful island, rich in history. Our experienced and accredited tour guides have created many walks to suit all tastes. You can choose from walking tours of St Peter Port which will take you on a historical journey from the thirteenth century to the present day, to walks around our cliff paths to see where Renoir painted our beautiful island. Or you can take in the common and wide bays of the North of the island to learn about life  during the German Occupation and scramble around bunkers, vantage points and peak into the many open loop hole towers built to defend the island in the 1770s.

You will meet your accredited guide in St Peter Port from where we will start our amazing adventure.  Following embarkation onto your private minibus with a separate driver, we will drive past Victor Hugo’s House, to see where this famous writer once lived.  We will travel through the parishes of St Martin and the Forest before arriving at The German Occupation Museum, explore with us a private museum which we consider to be the best in Guernsey.  On leaving the museum, we will then drive to a WWll private fortification, not usually open to the public. A personal tour of this unique site will be provided, with photographs obtained from a private collection. Continue back to St Peter Port via our west coast to view some of the best beaches on the island.

Art Exhibition – Renoir, Monet and Gauguin coming to Guernsey

In 2023, the only Renoir exhibition in the world. A major exhibition featuring paintings by Renoir, Monet, and Gauguin will take place in Guernsey, a must-see for visitors and locals alike. The people and scenery of Guernsey have inspired writers, artists, and musicians through the centuries. Renoir painted our south coast bays, Victor Hugo wrote Les Miserables and Toilers of the Sea during his 15-year sojourn in Guernsey, and the artist Mura Masa hails from our shores.  

Guernsey is also home to many art galleries: The Guernsey Museum and Art Gallery, the Sula Art Gallery, and craft galleries featuring works by local artists. Our newest dynamic gallery, Art for Guernsey, features amazing murals by a diverse group of modern artists and will be hosting displays and exhibitions featuring the old masters and new artists.

Tours of the apple orchards where Rocquettes Cider is made, or the Little Big Brew. Co. Guernsey or one of our Gin distilleries, either one or all, it is your choice,  and of course the opportunity to sample the products at the end of your visit. 

We are very lucky to have a number of small, independent breweries and distilleries on Guernsey. You can visit the beautiful apple orchards and find out how Rocquettes Cider is made, or take a trip around one of our newest breweries, The Little Big Brew Co. Guernsey where you will find a trio of ales to try. We also boast some of the finest Gin distilleries where you can learn all about the secret ingredients used to make some of the finest gins. Of course, with each tour, you also get to try for yourself and enjoy our local products in beautiful surroundings.

Guernsey is part of a little archipelago of islands which include Herm, Sark, Alderney and of course, our larger sister island of Jersey.  The immediate islands of Herm, Sark, and Alderney are all within what we term the Bailiwick of Guernsey and can be accessed by boat or in the case of Alderney and Jersey, by plane and boat. It only takes 25 minutes on the boat to Herm, approximately 40 minutes to Sark, and 20 minutes by air to either Alderney or Jersey. We will arrange your boat or flight to any of our islands giving you a wonderful opportunity to enjoy and savour the best of the Channel Islands during your holiday.

We will book your choice of treatments and arrange for you to swim with a local group of all-year-round swimmers and leave you free to enjoy the results.

Private Boat and fishing tours

 Guernsey has one of the largest tidal ranges in the world 

Trips vary from 3 hours to a full day 

Surrounded as we are by the beautiful, clear waters of the Bay of St Malo, the sea plays an important part in our social and economic activity. We can book you on a leisurely boat trip to discover our less accessible bays and quieter coves, perhaps you can take a picnic or enjoy a beach BBQ. Or for those more adventurous trips, you can visit the Hanois Lighthouse, and get up close and see for yourself just how treacherous our rocky shoreline is for sailors.  We can also book you on angling trips where you will be taken to the best spots for mackerel, pollock and if you are really lucky, you could catch a much sought-after sea bass.

Our waters are crystal clear and our beaches are sandy and clean, with amazing views any way you look due to the natural surroundings, and complete lack of commerciality along our coastline. You really will experience the best that the sea has to offer on any of our island beaches.

A wide range of events are on in Guernsey throughout the year

In any given month, Guernsey is a hive of activity. Our island-specific events range from the 9th May Liberation Day which celebrates our liberation from the Germans, to seasonal agricultural shows which take place in August, and music events that happen at various venues around the island all year round. We also have amazing theatre groups who perform fantastic plays in some of the most fascinating locations.

As well as numerous sea sporting activities which include sailing, surfing, and coasteering, we also have three golf courses, fantastic football, and cricket facilities, and one of the largest racketball centres in Europe. We will book you in to enjoy your favourite sport at any of our island venues whether you are an individual, a small group, or a large group.  We also provide a booking service for sporting groups just looking for a flight, transport, and hotel accommodation for pre-arranged sporting adventures. We remove the burden of organising and booking and replace this with peace of mind and a stress-free visit.
